What began as a mobile home dealership in 1969 expanded in 1977 into an interior design and wholesale company that serviced primarily the manufactured housing industry. In 1984 furniture was added to the supply and design of the company. Over the past 45+ years it has grown into Magnolia House of Furniture, serving the South East Region of the United States.
Founded by Wilson and Liz Nix, the company first began doing interior decorating for their own mobile home dealership and eventually expanded into the company formerly known as International House of Decor. They were one of many companies in the Southeast to specialize in décor and furniture for the manufactured housing industry. During the early years the Nix's were known in the entire Southeastern region as "decorators with the Grey Hound Buses". Over the years, the family branched out from the original warehouse in Georgia, adding warehouses in North Carolina and Texas. Through a series of very trying years in the manufactured housing industry, the Nix's closed all its locations except Nashville, which was still a distribution location and closed to the retail public. Magnolia House Of Furniture is still around today because of lots of prayers, hard work, and an awesome group of good people over the years that has helped shape the company into what it is today.
In 1997, Wilson and Liz’s sons, Rodney and Michael Nix opened the Nashville location to the public. They started carrying the country's best brand names in furniture, including Ashley, Best Chair, Liberty, Riverside, Vaughan-Bassett, and many more. The brother's have since opened a new location in Valdosta, Georgia in 2004. In addition to the retail location, the Nix's are still distributing out of the Nashville 27000 Sq Ft. location to the manufactured housing market.
